Becoming parents to six-month-old twin daughters had already pushed me to the edge of exhaustion. Every day was filled with sleepless nights, endless bottles, diaper changes, and constant crying. Instead of standing beside me through the hardest season of our lives, my husband, Ryan, decided he needed a “break.”
While I struggled to keep everything together, he packed a navy travel bag and left for a four-day fishing vacation with his friends. To make matters worse, he used money from our emergency savings to pay for the trip and proudly shared photos online about finally enjoying some “peace and quiet.”

There were dirty bottles stacked in the sink, laundry waiting to be folded, and two babies who barely slept for more than an hour at a time.
He simply shrugged.
“You wanted kids,” he said. “You’ll manage.”
Then he grabbed his bag and walked out.
For the next four days, I barely slept.
Cold coffee became my breakfast, and protein bars were often the only meals I had while caring for Emma and Ella around the clock.
