Instructions:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
- In a small saucepan, heat the butter and milk over low heat until the butter is melted. Remove from heat and let it cool until it reaches room temperature.
- Add the cooled milk mixture and egg to the dry ingredients and mix until well combined.
- Gradually add the remaining flour, one tablespoon at a time, until the dough comes together and is no longer sticky.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes, until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking sheet or line it with parchment paper.
- Once the dough has risen, divide it into 12 equal pieces and shape each piece into a roll. Place the rolls on the prepared baking sheet.
- Brush the rolls with beaten egg yolk and let them rise for another 15 minutes.
- Bake the rolls for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Remove the rolls from the oven and brush them with melted butter, if desired. Serve warm.
Enjoy your dinner rolls!
